CAMP WITH US

We adore Burning Man and embrace the 10 Principles both on and off playa. It’s important that those who camp with us are open to connect with the spirit of Burning Man – radical inclusion, radical self-reliance, participation and communal effort drive the 3SP philosophy.

 

Burning Man is a temporary city that we all build together in a harsh, dry, hot desert climate. It’s not a festival, and there are no spectators. Burning Man is a transformational experience but it’s not for the faint of heart. You need to be ready to embrace challenges, get out of your comfort zone, and work with others.

 

We expect all campers to BUILD or BREAK DOWN our camp (or both), and we all participate with chores during the week. This is our home and we need to maintain it. 3SP is not a “drop-in” camp; if you are unable to build or break down, the more you’ll be expected to assist during the week on Playa.

 

We expect all campers to participate in camp planning throughout the spring and summer (we have Zoom calls and ask for help with transport logistics, interactivity ideas, meal planning, camper acculturation, hotel booking, and other stuff).

 

We ask campers to cook a communal meal, and/or host an interactive event for Black Rock City, or create a camp-only interactive moment for our 3SP family. We host all kinds of events including serious educational talks, culturally-diverse sessions, ridiculous bullhorn giveaways, whiskey-and-advice-giving, etc.

Cost-Share Camp Dues

Like most camps, 3SP collectively operates by everyone contributing effort, labor, and cost-shares. Camp dues are necessary to underwrite expenses. Your cost-share covers:

 

Shade – we've got you covered, literally! Pitch your tent under our large, shaded structure protected from the hot sun and high winds.

 

Communal Living Space – relax in our group dining room, chill in our communal living room space with couches, tables, armchairs, and a bar.

 

Camper-only – private, shaded “camper-only back area” for our tents. We offer some RV parking, so you’ll will be able to park your trailer or van in our private camp space.

  

Container Transport – dues cover the expense of shipping our physical camp infrastructure from Reno to the Playa and back via the 3SP storage shipping container.

 

Drinking Water (and ICE!) – it’s the desert, stay hydrated!  You do not need to bring your own water with you, 3SP provides all the drinking water you need.  

 

Hot Showers – we build our own communal, on-demand hot shower, a grey water system, and potable water system. All your washing, cleaning and water needs are taken care of in camp.

 

Communal Camping Kitchen – we offer up tasty meals in our full-kitchen, and provide food throughout the week. We typically create one or two hot meals each day, and a cold deli spread for lunch. And we have snacks around the clock. We often try to sit down all together for shared dinners and camp announcements. Camp dues also cover some of your non-alcoholic drinks.
